Held every four years, the IUCN World Conservation Congress is the world’s largest and most inclusive environmental decision-making forum. It brings together IUCN’s 1,400+ government, civil society, and Indigenous member organizations from over 140 countries—alongside business, science, and academia—to drive conservation and sustainable development forward. The Congress features three core components:
Forum (9–12 Oct): A knowledge marketplace with thematic sessions on science, practice, innovation, and policy.
Exhibition (9–13 Oct): Pavilions and booths showcasing latest research, conservation projects, and solutions—open to participants and the public.
Members’ Assembly (13–15 Oct): IUCN’s highest decision-making body where motions are debated and voted on, shaping the global conservation agenda
In 2021, the Congress in Marseille garnered over 9,200 participants, engaged 25,000 visitors, and produced the influential “Marseille Manifesto”
